Port San Antonio unveils plans for state-of-the-art vertiport

Port San Antonio, located on the site of the former Kelly Air Force Base, planned to build a state-of-the-art vertiport to host and deploy eVTOLs. as part of a $100 million renovation effort at the airfield. The construction of the vertiport will transform the port into an innovation hub to attract leading industry and government players in the advanced sectors of aviation, transportation, cybersecurity and communications. “We were very attracted to advanced air mobility and particularly the opportunities it offers for a couple of reasons,” Perschbach said in an interview. “First, I love all things aviation. But two: As we go about growing our campus, we have an urgent and growing need to find ways to move people in and out of this place.”
