“This latest milestone represents a major milestone in the development of the Lilium Jet and follows extensive testing of battery pack subcomponents, from the single cell to the stack level, with a focus on performance, safety and regulatory compliance,” said l the Munich-based company on April 16.
The battery packs that will be produced at the Lilium plant in Wessling, west of Munich feature lithium-ion cells with predominantly silicon anodes.
“They will allow – said Lilium – greater energy, power and rapid charging capacity compared to cells with graphite anodes”. And they will meet the safety standards of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency in terms of crashworthiness, heat resistance, containment and redundancy.”
