Australian advanced air mobility (AAM) group Skyportz is launching Wilbur Air, a subsidiary that will operate up to 100 eSTOL Electra electric/hybrid-electric aircraft on a planned Australian vertiport network.
The Electra aircraft is being certified under FAA Part 23 regulations and could fly by 2028.
Clem Newton-Brown, CEO and founder of Skyportz said: “There is huge interest from the real estate sector. We are working with governments, air regulators and communities to establish parameters for the introduction of vertiport infrastructure and short take-off and landing runways. If all planes do is fly from airports and heliports, there will be no revolution. We need to start developing vertiports in new locations now.”
